Hi all,
sorry i haven't been on here in a while,
The semester at university began and was promptly followed by my 21st birthday! which was followed by me coming down with a really bad cold! the second one i've had in the last 7 weeks! the first being on honeymoon!
I can't wait for it to be over so i can truly engage with the world again, back at my volunteering program, back at uni relishing Shakespeare:Text and Theory, Dramatic Writing and Writing for the Screen!
Those are my modules for this semester. I really do think it'll be amazing! There is one thing that keeps going round and round in my snot-filled head, THE DISSERTATION! (please insert death match tune) I thought i had a topic, only for me to start doubting i could fulfil it and so at the moment i have nothing, nada, zilch.
However, being ill in bed gave me an idea.
I watched the entire dvd of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice brilliantly dramatised by the BBC ( You know the Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle one) Yes all five hours of it. It got me thinking about estates being entailed to males, good and bad marriage matches and elopment/ co-habitation in Jane Austen's England. When compared to our present day England, the change might seem astonishing but is it really? so that sounds promising!
I have also been quite hormonal, well I called my husband who was away for work for the week at 6am to cry about the fact that I had to squash the HUGE spider that was on the dishwasher, advancing towards me. That people isn't me. I may cry over movies like The Notebook, BUT I do not blub over silly things.
The tears however didn't stop there no, I proceeded to cry at a uni meeting because they sent me back home to rest, I cried at the pharmacist in Boots who was trying to help me find a more suitable cough mixture ( I now reckon it was coz she reminded me of my mother, who is also a pharmacist working for Boots) and I cried at my boss, when I went in to ask for Sunday off. Because I work for The National Trust, my boss is really lovely and I got a hug and Sunday off rather than being fired for being a weak female! So there you have it. I came to the conclusion that it MUST be the hormones.
My hubby is back in 10 mins from his week away so gotta go make sure i don't have snot on my face!
