At Home with my Poorly Boy...

E casually asleep across my belly!
So Wednesday AM was really scary! I was awoken at about 3am by E screeching and nothing would settle him. I then noticed he was shallow breathing quite rapidly. I called NHS Direct and while on the phone, I noticed his ribs where being sucked in with each rapid breath. I relayed that to the Nurse on the phone and she advised us to take him straight to A&E.
On the way there, He was drowsy and I couldn't get him to stay awake! By the time we got there and the Paed Nurse saw us his temperature had spiked to 38 degrees celsius.  She asked us to take off his sleepsuit and we replaced it with a bodysuit and he was given some Calpol. Thankfully his oxygen levels were okay. We saw the paediatrician and she checked his ears and throat, They were fine. She then listened to his chest and said he had Bronchiolitis. Since it is viral, there is nothing we can do. His immune system has to fight it. I on the other hand have become rather anal about checking his temperature and his breathing!

Since he is infectious, We can't go anywhere where children might be so he doesn't spread it. So we have been home since then (actually since boxing day)
On Thursday, I had a bit of cabin fever setting in but I'm settling in now. He is off his food so he is nursing lots. One of the times I'm so grateful for 'mummy milk'. As a very active baby, It is rare for E to cuddle me for longer than 10 mins so I've been treasuring the lazy days where he won't get off my lap.

Today we watched Praise Baby, Elmo's World & The Christmas episode of Don't Tell The Bride. We played with bubbles, then we napped for 3 hours. Now that's rare! He began to get fractious at about 5pm so I ran a bath with Lavender &  Eucalyptus and that seemed to mellow him out.

I hope he gets better soon and he is my smiley Mr E again. In the meantime I guess it's a quiet New Year's Eve for us!
