So this past bank holiday Monday was an extra special one for us. It was Hillary's 13th birthday! We left home at the crack of dawn to get to Surrey to get prepared. It was my idea and Mark while excited was slightly terrified at the prospect of 13 tween/teen girls converging at my mum's for a spectacular afternoon.

When we arrived, I was so excited for Hills to open her gifts. She got a Kindle from my mum. She loves it as she is such a book worm. I had prepared an array of gifts for her. I bought a Cath Kidston woven bag and I put in it 2 hand made soaps made in Sussex. They were too pretty to use. A pack of CK tissues. We then wrapped the best for last. I had made a personalised Harry Potter card and in it We told her we were taking her to the Harry Potter Studios. Her face was such a picture! She was nearly in tears! Loved that moment!

Slowly but surely, her friends started to arrive & we had to vote on what movie to watch. In the end we saw Princess Diaries. Even though, they were chatting over the entire movie. My mum kept popping corn, making Potato Wedges and her famous virgin punch and I ordered 4 Large pizzas. Those girls can eat!
We sang happy birthday and Hills cut her cake. My mum & Mark passed pieces around. I was just about to nurse Ethan when My mum said my dad had arrived. He had turned up unannounced and definitely uninvited. My blood ran cold. I calmly carried Ethan into my mum's bedroom before he could set his eyes on my son. (More about that in another post) After a while the nail bar segment started and I had brought along my Champneys Foot Spa that Mark got me for christmas and We plugged in mine & my mum's so the girls could do their feet two at a time. The others painted their feet too. I bought the girls some crackle polish and some glitter ones too in addition to my entire collection. It had to be strictly feet because the girls had school the next day.

In some ways, I can believe that Hillary is 13. She has definitely blossomed. She is bright, funny, beautiful and the nicest person. I'm really excited to see what sort of adult she turns into. For now though, Mark & I have said to her that She can talk to us about anything. She has an advantage I never had. A sister who has been there and would tell it to her like it is.
Ethan was of course fussed over by all the girls. He was a bit unsure at first but they bribed him with their blackberry's and other phones and soon he was lapping up the attention. "Aww, I love his cute little toes" was heard various times across the day. We had a fab day and Hillary and her friends did too!
Happy Birthday Little Sis! We Love You!
