Ethan & I awoke early to brave our local Sainsbury's. You see back in November, we had ordered our Christmas food from there to take the stress out of Christmas. Well that was the idea anyways. I made sure I remembered my deposit voucher and went to the collection point. She asked for my surname and informed me my 3 items were waiting. I told her I had ordered more than 3. I began to panic then. No duck or lamb on their list. Arghhh no Christmas or Boxing Day roast. My goodness I thought, we are in trouble now. Really struggling to keep the panicky tears from flowing, I presented my copy of the order form. She went to speak to someone who spoke to someone else. Meanwhile, my friends were keeping me going via the medium of Facebook.
A man whom I can only imagine was a duty manager came to chat to me about substituting the duck ordered for goose. I asked for a lamb joint to which he obliged. That was how Christmas was saved.
On one hand, I'm absolutely annoyed at the original person who took my order for missing out such vital things but I am impressed with the way it was handled.
We'll be shopping there again that's for sure but maybe we'll double check our order next time!

It's so frustrating when things like that happen, but I'm glad they made things right. I admit, though, that I like your friend's suggestion of going vegan next year (I'm vegan)! lol Belated Merry Christmas! ♥ (If you get this post more than once, please ignore the other ones.... I keep trying and it doesn't seem to be going through. lol)
How incredibly frustrating that you planned it all out in advance for naught! Well not for nothing I guess; it was good customer service to give you free (is that right? from your facebook convo) meat. Whew! (found you via the comment club :D)
I'm interested in knowing how you prepared the duck, and what you did with the lamb joint. I've never cooked with either of those. I'm always looking for new recipes if you want to share!
Let us know in the Comment Club if you post more about your Christmas dinner! :)
I would have been so upset if I showed up and important parts of my order were missing. I'm glad everything worked out.
What exactly is a lamb joint?
